Wow, driving from Madrid to Sevilla through Extremadura was just phenomenal. We never saw the windmills but we had beautiful blue skies with fantastic cloud formations and great animal spottings: horses, bulls (all Ferdinands, we hope), olive trees, and large white storks making nests on every dilapidated barn, post and church steeple. I wasn't fast enough to catch any in action but Nate was our best stork spotter. We also saw lots of solar farms and fields upon fields of sunflowers. We didn't have time to stop at Merida or Zafra unfortunately so maybe next time around!
