We were still smarting from the impossible driving, the crunched rental car, etc. But we were willing to give Granada another chance the morning after we woke up from our visit to Alhambra. That morning was Ed's birthday and we presented him with his Madrid Palace royal tie and sugared nuts (hey, choices are limited when you're traveling) before we went wandering. The third photo here is of the boys scarfing on a birthday breakfast treat (chocolate croissants of some kind) from the local bakery. Behind them was a store that sold only eggs at this hour. Piles and piles of eggs. Which seems like quite a specialty but as we packed up hours later we finally saw them put other items in the case. It was almost a relief that they weren't relying on the chickens. Grenada's main roads are shaded and garlanded which was so nice/pretty. Could they be more welcoming to shoppers? Plus check out the ivy bells (?) in lieu of lampshades. And the city's symbol, a pomegranate on every pedestrian gate. OK, we love you, Granada, and we should have parked outside the city and taxi'd in. Lesson learned. Off to Eix/Elche for Ed's real birthday celebration!
