Cuenca is built around a deep, deep gorge. Our parador hotel was built on one side and the old town is on the other side. And a long, scary pedestrian bridge lies between. You can sort of see it here--just imagine that it's 60 meters above the river. And here are Ed and the boys crossing it. Because land is at a premium Cuenca began to build houses literally over the gorge. But more on that in future posts...
Our family--Ed, Sarah, Ben (10) and Nate (7)--will live in Spain for a glorious 2 months and attempt to see something new every day.

Cuenca, Part 1

Pulled the wrong photo again--that's not Ed and the boys of course. That poor woman and her two children look nothing like Stacklers. But even looking at the photo makes me reminds me of the anxiety of our two kids crossing it... I made them hold our hands crossing the bridge each time too, much to their embarrassment and chagrin.
